Superintendent’s Welcome – Mr. Tim Kuehl
Welcome to the 13-14 school year! I am very excited to be joining the staff in
serving the students of CCA. CCA has a
strong reputation for providing the best available educational opportunities
for our students; I look forward to helping build on that reputation. These are exciting and challenging times as
education makes the fundamental shift to ensuring that each student learns the
required content, while continuing to support the social, emotional, and
physical development of each student.
Our elementary schools are excited to be part of the
Collaborating 4 Iowa Kids, C4K, pilot program in Iowa. We are one of a select few districts selected
by the State to pilot Response to Intervention programing in Iowa. This involvement will bring further training
to our staff and improve our ability to meet the educational needs of each
child at CCA. This is a great fit with
the work already begun utilizing students’ PLPs. We will also continue expanding our use of
technology to meet our students’ educational needs at all levels.
Meeting our growing population’s need for instructional
space is a continuing challenge faced by CCA.
The Board of Education will be developing short and long-term facilities
plans in the very near future and we anticipate going to our community with a
bond vote in February 2014. It is
important to keep in mind that, according to Dr. Rushton’s study, CCA will need
several projects over the next 10 years.
These will likely include two additions to the high school, additions
and renovation to the middle school, and two elementary buildings of some
configuration. Please feel free to
contact me if you have questions and/or suggestions regarding facilities. We will be putting information out on the
website and in local media as the process moves forward.
It is a great time to be a Clipper!
